Levi was overjoyed. Now Freda would have a good life on the Landis farm. She was not going to become bacon and ham, at least not for a long time, and Levi was getting a pet of his very own. He gave Father a hug.
Levi jumped down from the fence to get a better look at his pig. Alarmed by wide space he noticed below the bottom rail, he asked, “What if my piglet escapes under the fence?” “Don’t worry, Levi,” Father answered, “a pig always comes home.”
“With his hands on his hips, Levi watched Ethan with envy. “Hmmph,” he muttered. “It’s not fair! I wish I had a pet of my own.” He kicked a clump of dirt in frustration.”
Watching father gently rub Sophie's back, Levi suddenly got an idea. “Father, can I have a piglet for a pet?” he asked.
